Straight answers on audits, HACCP, training and how we work
Most asked
Do I need a Food Safety Program?
Many high-risk food businesses are legally required to have one. We can help determine your obligations and develop a program tailored to your operations.
Can you help us prepare for a regulatory audit?
Yes. We conduct pre-audit assessments, identify compliance gaps and help implement corrective actions before your official audit.
Do you provide HACCP certification support?
Yes. We guide businesses through the entire certification process, from gap analysis to audit readiness.
Do you offer staff training?
Yes. We deliver customised food safety training on-site, online or at your workplace.
Which areas do you service?
We provide services throughout New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland and Western Australia, with selected consulting and online training available across Australia.
Regulatory audits and inspections
Who can conduct a regulatory food safety audit?
An auditor approved by the relevant state regulator. Hospo Safe Solution is an Approved Regulatory Food Safety Auditor with the NSW Food Authority and the Victoria, Queensland and Western Australia Departments of Health.
What happens if the audit finds non-compliances?
Required corrective actions are documented in the audit report, and we verify them once completed so your compliance is confirmed.
Can you audit our kitchen before a council inspection?
Yes. A kitchen compliance audit identifies gaps against Australian Food Safety Standards so they can be fixed before an inspection.
What happens at a council inspection?
An Environmental Health Officer checks your premises, food handling, temperatures, cleaning and records, and may ask to see your Food Safety Supervisor certificate and food safety program. We help you prepare for exactly that.
What does the audit report include?
Scores by area, photos of non-compliances, the required corrective actions and a date for verification.
HACCP and food safety systems
Do our customers require HACCP certification?
Many retail and food service customers require HACCP certification or an audited food safety program from their suppliers. We help you work out what your customers expect and build to that.
Can you help with a product recall plan?
Yes. We develop and test recall procedures, including mock recalls, so your team knows exactly what to do.
Do you work with distributors and cold stores as well as manufacturers?
Yes. Storage, transport and distribution businesses need traceability, temperature control and approved supplier systems too.
Do you help with allergen management and menu labelling?
Yes. Allergen management and food labelling compliance are part of our hospitality services.
Do I need a Food Safety Supervisor?
In New South Wales, many retail food businesses that handle potentially hazardous ready-to-eat food must appoint a certified Food Safety Supervisor. We can train yours or confirm what applies to your business.
Quick service restaurants
Do you audit against our brand’s own standards?
Yes. We audit against the brand manual and scoring alongside Australian food safety requirements, and report in the format your franchisor uses.
Can you audit multiple stores across states?
Yes. We audit across New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland and Western Australia with consistent scoring across the network.
What happens if a store fails an audit?
You receive a clear corrective action list. We can coach the store and verify the fixes on a follow-up visit.
Training
Do participants receive a certificate?
Participants receive a record of completion for each program, and training records are provided in a format that can be kept with your food safety program for audit.
How long does a session take?
Most programs run from two hours to a full day, depending on the topic and the group. Custom workplace training is scoped to fit your roster.
What group sizes do you train?
From one-on-one Food Safety Supervisor coaching to whole-team workshops across multiple sites.
Working with us
Do we have to go through all six steps?
No. Many clients start at an assessment or at audit preparation. We scope the engagement to where your business is today.
Who from our team needs to be involved?
The owner or manager at consultation and assessment, your Food Safety Supervisor or QA lead through development and implementation, and the whole team for training.
What does ongoing support look like?
Scheduled reviews, refresher training and a phone call when something changes, as much or as little as you need.
Can you help if I am just starting out?
Yes. An opening compliance review covers registration, set-up and the documents you need before you start trading.
